The PlayStation 3 has only been through 2 different PAL models so far, the 60GB (with backwards compatibility and extra connections) and the 40GB version. So, now Sony has decided to up the hard drive capacity on the PS3 to 80GB - especially since game developers love to use plenty of hard drive space, rather than the Blu-Ray. The new console version also gives you a DualShock 3 wireless controller and is now available to pre-order for £299.99 from Play.com.
This is a great price, since the previous 40GB version (with an old sixaxis controller) still retails at the same price. You'll have to wait until the 22nd August for the model to arrive at your door but just think of how much space you'll have to cram downloads, videos and music on to your PS3, as well as not having to fork out £39.99 for a DualShock 3 controller. Sony also claim that they have achieved a significant heat and noise reduction, comparable to the slimline PS2!
